Homemade Smoked Ketchup with Garlic
The thought of ketchup on anything used to gross me out until I tried making my own. It turned me into a ketchup lover! It sounds extreme to make your own ketchup when it is easy to buy a bottle of it at the grocery but this is a healthy and easy alternative that everyone in the family will enjoy.
A hint of smokiness from paprika and some minced garlic making this the star of any [food] show! This smoked ketchup can make any sandwich, burger (meat or veggie) , or dipping food item delicious. Try it on these chickpea and sweetcorn burgers for a healthy plant-based dinner that has ALL the flavor.
This recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, and can be made sugar-free without the pinch of sugar!
INGREDIENTS
· 1 x 400g tinned chopped tomatoes
· 2 garlic cloves, crushed
· ½ tsp smoked paprika
· Pinch sugar (optional, it brings out of the flavor)
· Salt and Pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
1. In a small pan, bring the tomatoes, garlic, paprika and sugar to the boil.
2. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes, or until it is thick.
3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
